The project
Commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia through a competitive tender, the massive masonry structures defining the monumental spaces built in the 16th century by the Venetian Republic were the focus of a restoration project with a strong emphasis on conservation.
Within these historic volumes, lightweight, removable prefabricated structures were inserted to accommodate exhibition and theatrical uses, with a seating capacity of up to five hundred.
