«the supreme principle (…) is that which aligns with the necessity that the restored entity persists as itself following its restoration.»
GIUSEPPE CRISTINELLI
The goals
The purpose of the practice is to provide design services, construction management, consultancy, appraisals, and all other activities related to the field of architectural restoration across various scales: from the built landscape to urban renewal, from the restoration of minor architecture to major monuments, including the conservation of decorative elements in their original materials, and extending to the preservation of artworks in situ (such as frescoes, sculptural ensembles, and similar works).
The methodology
The ultimate goal remains the preservation of the monument’s material and formal substance. The methodology for approaching the asset to be restored is carefully tailored and adapted to its specific typology and characteristics, based on criteria derived from theoretical and disciplinary insights previously described in these notes and consistently validated through experiences gained in various fields of architectural restoration. The process begins by identifying the unique characteristics of the built complex to be restored, encompassing its monumental, historical, technical, spatial, and distributional attributes. These characteristics are then correlated with the set of functions intended to define the restored and revitalized building for contemporary use. The project is completed and finalized only after confirming the compatibility of the new functions with the specific and inherent characteristics of the building to be restored, as well as with its monumental value.
History of the Studio
The “Studio Associato di Architettura e Restauro Cristinelli&Cristinelli” was established in the mid-1990s, building on the prior experiences of its two founders, architects Giuseppe Cristinelli and Emma Calebich, in the fields of architecture and restoration during the preceding decades. About a decade later, in 2005, architect Giordano-Bruno Cristinelli joined the studio and currently leads it.

The team

Bruno Cristinelli – Architect
As Principal, Bruno Cristinelli coordinates design activities with other associates and consultants and oversees the overall operations of the Studio. He graduated in Architecture from IUAV University in Venice in 2006 and immediately began contributing to the Studio’s activities, working alongside his father on architectural design and restoration projects.
In 2010, he collaborated with Professor Dezzi Bardeschi at his studio in Milan, participating in restoration projects supervised by the professor in Milan, Naples, and Calabria.
During the latter half of the 2010s, he worked in London with various local professionals in the fields of renovation and architectural restoration.

Emma Calebich – Architect
Emma Calebich, an architect, conducts her professional activities in architectural restoration, interior architecture, and safety planning and coordination. In addition to collaborating with the Studio’s principal, she has independently managed several projects and construction supervisions, including the restoration of a Gothic-Byzantine building complex in Dorsoduro and a Gothic palazzetto in Santa Croce, both in Venice.

Arianna Gasparini
Since 1990, Arianna Gasparini has managed the Studio’s secretarial and administrative tasks. She is familiar with every project and oversees organizational and logistical relations with clients, while also coordinating with accounting and tax consultants.

Nicola Federico Gangai
He graduated in Architecture from IUAV University of Venice in the 2024-2025 academic year. He joined the Cristinelli&Cristinelli Studio team in 2024, following an initial internship training experience. He currently supports technical and design tasks in architectural restoration and building renovation. He is adaptable, team-oriented, and collaborative.

David Zulianello
After obtaining his diploma as a surveyor, David Zulianello collaborated for approximately one year with Dr. Adolfo Piazza at his engineering studio in San Michele al Tagliamento (VE), providing support for design activities.
Subsequently, he pursued his academic path and graduated in “Architecture for the New and the Ancient” from IUAV University in Venice in the 2021-2022 academic year.
Starting in April 2025, he joined the Cristinelli & Cristinelli Studio team, contributing to various technical-design activities and supporting projects in both architectural restoration and building renovation, building on his prior professional and academic experience.
