The Project
In the pre-intervention phase, the residential building consists of a structure originally built in the early 1950s on two levels, which underwent a renovation started in 2014 but not yet completed. The original part features masonry construction, while the extension has a reinforced concrete frame and precast concrete floors; the wooden roof has a double-pitched configuration, and the building envelope, yet to be painted, is externally insulated with EPS panels. The housing unit, spanning both floors, is in a rough state, without windows or finishes, and includes functional spaces distributed between living areas and bedrooms. The intervention involves reorganizing the internal spaces in the southeast area of the ground floor, with the relocation of non-structural walls and access points to the rooms. Specifically, it includes demolishing the wall between the entrance and the hallway, relocating the bedroom access door, and slightly enlarging the corresponding window. On the first floor, the access corridor to the storage room has been modified. In the area hosting the living/dining functions, a false ceiling is installed, and the layout between the hallway, walk-in closet, and double bedroom is revised. The intervention is completed with ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works, including the replacement of flooring and finishes, the installation of new windows, the renewal of systems (plumbing, heating, sanitary, and electrical), and the completion of external arrangements.
