The project
Commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia following a competitive tender, the project—developed in collaboration—focused on the restoration of the building within the Arsenale previously used as a theatre, originally housing the Foundries.
The existing masonry was consolidated both in its material integrity and functional role; the floors, almost entirely destroyed, were reconstructed using a technique reminiscent of the original pastellone, which had been completely lost.
The early 20th-century window and door frames, despite their advanced state of deterioration, were carefully restored and reinstalled.
The interior spaces were recovered for theatrical use and equipped with ancillary facilities for both the audience and performers.
The intervention was fully completed.
