The project
The very elegant 15th-century façade has been attributed by some to Codussi, and indeed, certain elements of the compositional and decorative language of the great architect of the early Venetian Renaissance can be discerned.
The stone material, which also includes rare stones of Eastern origin, was severely degraded and often cracked or displaced due to structural settlements.
After consolidating the masonry structure, restoration of the architectural elements of the stone facing was carried out, together with interventions on various decorative components. The process followed the standard phases of pre-consolidation, cleaning, integration, consolidation, and protection.
Particular care was taken during the cleaning and protection phases to remove surface deposits and black crusts without damaging the original patina or altering the historic color tones.
